Seal Beach Christmas Parade 2017 Dec 1
This ‘continuous motion’ parade highlights youth groups, sports groups, schools, businesses, first responders and other organizations from Seal Beach and the surrounding areas.

Free Boat Rides with Santa Dec 2-3
SANTA and his helpers listen to Christmas wishes during 20-minute harbor cruises on December 2 & 3 from 10am-2pm. Bring your camera and enjoy the tradition Dana Wharf has offered families for generations. A $5 donation to the El Camino Real Junior Woman’s Club is suggested.

Winter Festival & Tree Lighting Dec 2
Activities throughout the day include Santa visits, carnival games ($1), craft fair, Dana Point Police Services Kid Print ID, face painting, cookie decorating ($2), holiday crafts, Lego Santa’s Village Workshop, the Mini Express Train, petting zoo, pony rides and the Annual Tree Lighting! Most activities are free.

Tree Lighting Ceremony Dec 2
This special holiday event will feature guests from the North Pole as well as performances by various community groups, delicious food available for purchase from local non-profit organizations, games, a spectacular fireworks show, and much more!

Santa’s Village by the Sea Dec 2
The event begins with the annual tree lighting ceremony to usher in the spirit of the season. Take a picture with Santa and delight in a night filled with holiday fun, carolers, cookie decorating, and activities for the whole family to enjoy!

Winter Market Dec 2
THE MARKET WILL FEATURE: holiday entertainment, free pictures with Santa from 12 to 4 p.m., Food booths, holiday shopping, face painting, bounce house, beer and wine garden, and “spark of love” toy drive with Fullerton firefighters

Walking in a Winterfest Wonderland Dec 3
Atlantis Play Center is located at 13630 Atlantis Way in Garden Grove Park. Be sure to dress warmly because there will be 50 tons of snow! Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting from the North Pole from 4:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Activities at the event include crafts, inflatables, carnival games, train rides, music and more.

Free Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration Dec 5
Presented by the City of Garden Grove and the Garden Grove Community Foundation, this free event features live entertainment and holiday refreshments. The event culminates with the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus, spectacular tree lighting, and a flurry of winter snow.

Tree Lighting Ceremony Dec 7
Light up the holiday at the City of Brea’s annual tree lighting celebration. Pictures with Santa are available for a fee. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served.

43rd Annual Boat Parade Dec 8, 9, 15, 16
This year on the boat parade nights, we are excited to include family fun holiday activities throughout the Harbor starting at 4:30pm and providing entertainment and holiday cheer for everyone prior to the boat parade. The City of Dana Point, County of Orange and the California State Parks at Doheny will provide Trolley service which runs all four days of the parade starting at 3:30pm until 10:30pm.

The parade includes beautiful equestrian units, patriotic and inspirational military tributes, world-class athletes, spirit-filled youth groups, classic auto clubs, talented marching bands, and some of the biggest attractions in the nation!

HOLIDAY Gingerbread House Building Workshop Dec 9, 10, 16
This time-honored tradition just got a little more exciting and a lot more delicious! Featuring Jazz Kitchen favorites such as Bananas Foster French Toast, Louisiana Shepard’s Pie, Beignets, and more, this buffet will fill you up and get your creative juices flowing before you start building your masterpiece.

Annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade Dec 13-17
FREE to the public. The boat parade will light up the harbor for five consecutive nights. The parade starts at Bay Island at 6:00 p.m. and will last approximately three and a half hours.

Enchanted Forest of Light Thru Jan 7
As the days get darker, Descanso Gardens transforms its grounds into an enchanted forest with whimsical lighting displays and interactive exhibitions. Visitors will stroll along a one-mile walk through the Gardens to experience the most beloved collections of Descanso illuminated in glorious color. Some of these displays will be interactive, allowing visitors to manipulate the lights and sounds.

When the egg nog and extended family get old, grab a ticket to the Jingle Ball. Every year it brings a stacked lineup at a great venue. Catch top acts like Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Meghan Trainor and Diplo to kick off the holidays. Capitol One cardholders get first ticket access, so keep an eye out for first dibs!

Holiday Lamplight Celebration Dec 2-3
You physically move through the performance at Heritage Square during these house-to-house vignettes of celebration, heartache and all things Christmas. The 23rd annual nighttime tour traces the story of a single person’s life.

Festival of Carols Dec 2-9
This season, we’ll leave the singing to the pros. Join the Los Angeles Master Chorale for all of your favorite holiday carols in concert at the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall. One hundred and ten singers will belt out Deck the Hall, Silent Night, the First Noël, White Christmas, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and more to get you in the festive spirit.

Marina Del Rey Boat Parade Dec 9
Feel as though you’ve escaped to a small-town fishing village with the 55th anniversary of the Marina Del Rey Boat Parade. Bring a blanket and gather around Fisherman’s Village or Burton Chace Park to watch as 70 boats glide through the marina with holiday lights and decorations in competition. Categories include Best Theme, Best Animation, Best Band, Best Lights and more. The festivities begin at 5:55pm with fireworks, and the boat parade starts at 6pm, rain or shine.

Echo Park Craft Fair Dec 9-10
Reserve a spot in your weekend for the latest installment of this Pinterester’s Utopia. Hosted at the 5,000-square-foot Mack Sennett Studios, the Echo Park Craft Fair returns, welcoming artsy Eastsiders for a feast of hand-dyed clothing and delicately concocted bath oils, one-of-a-kind ceramics, weavings, jewelry and beyond.

Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade Dec 13-17
For the 109th year, the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade is doing just that as over 100 decorated vessels parade around a 14-mile circuit in the Newport Harbor. You can see the parade for free during each of the five nights, but there are also reserved seats and dining packages available for purchase.

Holiday Sing-Along Dec 16
Strike the harp and join the chorus with the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Holiday Sing-Along at Walt Disney Hall. The seasonal program offers two performances, with a special guest to-be-named taking the stage to recite holiday poems. A festive sing-along of holiday classics by the Angeles Chorale will include provided lyric sheets—just in case you forget how many fa-la-la-la’s are in Deck the Halls.

L.A. County Holiday Celebration Dec 24
While Santa may still be working with his elves to load up his sleigh, you can relax and enjoy a pre-Christmas Eve celebration at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Gather up your friends and family and go hear L.A.’s biggest holiday show, which includes more than 20 choirs, music ensembles and dance troupes from all over the city. The free three-hour show celebrates LA’s multicultural observation of the holidays with everything from an all-female mariachi ensemble to a Korean dance troupe. Doors open at 2:30pm and guests are encouraged to come and go as they please throughout the show.

Prohibition NYE Dec 31
Travel back to the 1920s for this massive Prohibition era-themed NYE party, set in Downtown’s 1930s Art Deco marvel, Union Station. The Main Concourse serves as the decadent celebration’s backdrop, featuring live DJ sets and jazz, burlesque dancers, custom cocktails and champagne. The fabulously dressed 21-plus crowd sets the scene—Roaring Twenties attire is encouraged (think: flapper dresses, feathered headbands, tuxedos, top hats and spats); formal attire is required. N.Y.E.L.A. Dec 31
Ring in 2018 with thousands of fellow Angelenos at the closest New Year’s Eve event L.A. has to a communal celebration. Stay up for the midnight countdown projected onto the exterior of City Hall—with more music and dancing to follow.

Welcome to the 22nd Annual Alpine Village Christmas Parade of Lights & Snow Festival. The lighted floats, vehicles, walking/dancing units, pets, and other entries will move down the boulevard to the Snow Festival with real snow.

Seas ’n’ Greetings Dec 1-31
Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography is transformed into a holiday wonderland full of seasonal activities. Deck the Hall (of Fishes), and check the schedule for appearances by Scuba Santa, crafts, activities, as well as live holiday music on weekends. All holiday activities are included with admission.

Balboa Park December Nights Dec 1-2
Balboa Park December Nights will celebrate its 40th year in grand fashion. The nation’s premier holiday extravaganza promises to sparkle with more food, fun, and festivities in its milestone year, billed as the largest free community event in San Diego.

Santa arrives via the Ferry at the Coronado Ferry Landing, a festive parade follows down Orange Avenue, and Santa lights the Christmas Tree in Rotary Plaza.

Plus holiday crafts, spin art, visits with Santa (December 2 – 23), and (on selected evenings) horse-drawn wagon rides, snow for sledding, and holiday carolers.

Family Holiday Festival Dec 2
Bring a camera or smart phone to the annual Family Festival to take photos with Santa, who will give each child a coloring book. The Family Festival features train rides and holiday craft activity where children ages 12 and under can make a jingle bell bracelet or tree ornament.

San Diego Santa Run Dec 9
A series of runs on Garnet Avenue featuring a 5K fun run and one-mile waves that include a run with your dog, a kids’ run, and a competitive race. “San Diego Santa Run is the only event in the country that provides all 5K participants with a Sunny Santa Suit and sunglasses,” say the promoters. Starts and finishes at the intersection of Garnet Avenue and Bayard Street.

The scrumdidlyumptious Wacky Wonky Wonderland will take place at the San Diego Center for Children’s main campus in Linda Vista to collect gifts and raise funds in support of its therapeutic, educational, foster care, and transition services provided to over 1000 families every day across San Diego County.

Queen Bee Market: Etsy Comes to Life Dec 15-16
Queen Bee Market buzzes into San Diego just in time for the holidays with a two-day market. The urban-style handmade market will host vendors showcasing an array of handmade home décor, accessories, clothing, paper arts, vintage items, furniture, and more.

Global Winter Wonderland Thru Dec
An international celebration featuring the largest display of traditional Chinese lanterns outside of China, “Cirque du Soleil-level acrobatics,” 35+ carnival rides, holiday-themed activities and games, and international food and shopping.

Skate by the Bay Thru Dec
Celebrate the holidays by ice skating next to the San Diego Bay on Hilton San Diego Bayfront’s outdoor ice rink, and share $1 from your ticket with the USO San Diego.

Skating by the Sea Thru Dec
Skating by the Sea returns to Hotel del Coronado from Thanksgiving Day through January 1. This ice rink is located seaside on Windsor Lawn and features views of the Pacific and Coronado beach. The Del’s iconic Victorian Building, adorned with thousands of white lights, provides a visual backdrop and adds holiday music and hot chocolate and libations. Skating is $25 per person, and ice skate rentals are free.

Rady Children’s Ice Rink at Liberty Station Thru Dec
The season runs through Sunday, January 7; closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. During the day expect young children and parents at the rink. As the sun goes down the teens come out for faster-paced skating. Night sessions attract adults willing to give ice skating a try. All proceeds benefit the Rady Children’s Hospital’s Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
