San Clemente Fiesta Street Festival Aug 13
Held on scenic Ave. Del Mar, two main blocks of downtown San Clemente are dedicated to an entire day of FUN. Food and game booths sponsored by local nonprofit organizations, three stages with continuous live music throughout the day, contests for all ages, a Salsa Challenge, arts & crafts show, kiddie area, exhibits, face painters and much more.

Brea Fest features wonderful food from over 35 local restaurants and distributors, live music, theatre performances, gallery exhibits, live artist demonstrations, and free activities for kids. Local restaurants donate food to this annual community event that celebrates Brea’s Art Programs such as the Curtis Theatre, Brea Art Gallery, and Concerts in the Park.

Sundance Next Fest Aug 10-13
The action takes place at DTLA’s Ace Hotel. Catch one (or all) of the eight films at the Ace Hotel’s theatre for a taste of cutting-edge, bizarre and trendy new films. Beyond screenings, weekend highlights include movie and musical guest pairings, comedy pairings and a curated production of shorts, plus special guest talks with NEXT FEST filmmakers. Hamilton Aug 11 – Dec 2017
L.A. finally gets its shot at Broadway’s hottest ticket, Hamilton. The hip-hop historical hootenanny by Lin-Manuel Miranda (everything winner for In the Heights) uses several musical genres to craft a totally new and unexpected look at the Founding Fathers and the creation of America. The cast album won the Grammy and the off-Broadway production won eight Drama Desks (along with six other nominations), including Outstanding Musical, Music, Lyrics and Book (Miranda collecting each of the last three).

CatCon Aug 12-13
The self-dubbed Comic-Con for cat people comes to the Pasadena Convention Center with speakers, meet and greets, furniture, art, toys and clothing—For humans? Felines? Hopefully both. Expect a panel of feline-friendly speakers as well as meet and greets. Needless to say, we’ll be stalking the event’s every move.

BrunchCon at the Reef in DTLA Aug 12-13

Celebrate LA’s burgeoning Eastside with a free music festival—what’s not to like? Echo Park Rising is back for its seventh year with over 100 handpicked local up-and-coming bands, comedians, film screenings and more. With venues ranging from the Echo and Stories Books & Cafe to Button Mash and the parking lot of TAIX French Restaurant, as well as various special discounts and sales at local businesses, this is always a neighborhood affair not to be missed.

Barnsdall Art Park’s Wine Tasting Nights Aug 18
Barnsdall Fridays returns to Barnsdall Art Park for the ninth year in a row, with evening tastings of boutique artisinal wines, along with food trucks, amazing food popups and music from KCRW DJ Marion Hodges. Silverlake Wine is providing the superior selection of wines, and the popups are from tasty local favorites like Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream and The Cheese Store of Silverlake. These wine events are the primary way that Barndsall Park raises funds for maintaining this beautiful public space, so keep in mind that the money you spend on your ticket is going to a great cause!

Long Beach BBQ Festival 2017 Aug 18-20
The Long Beach BBQ Festival gathers some of the best barbecue pitmasters from around the country to compete in its annual cook-off of grilled ribs, chicken, sausage, brisket, pulled pork and many other pit favorites. The festival features entertainment from live country bands and a great lineup of beer and wine producers from all over California. It provides fun for the whole family, hosting an arts and crafts exhibit as well as a special stage for children’s shows.

LA Taco Festival 2017 Aug 26
It is a community-driven event organized by Jovenes, Inc., a local non-profit that provides housing and support services for homeless youth in Boyle Heights, the charming and welcoming neighborhood that hosts the festival. Each year, numerous musicians, artists and of course, dozens of taco-crafting masters from the area gather to provide attendees with a great, flavorful time.

Oceanside International Film Festival 2017 Aug 6-13
Over the course of eight days, OIFF 2017 will screen over 70 films and showcase some of the best San Diego has to offer in local craft brew and catering. Founded by the Oceanside Cultural Art Foundation in 2009.

Automobile Heritage Day Festival & Car Show Aug 12
26th annual event, hosted by the National City Chamber of Commerce. Live music, food from a variety of National City eateries, entertainment for children, and specialty booths. A drive-by awards ceremony at 2 pm will showcase first-place winners for each of the classes as well as second- and third-place winners.

CityFest Aug 13
This year’s festival include over 250 artisans and crafters from across the country, international food court, live music, kids’ zone, Furry Fosters petting zoo, over six blocks of fun, beer garden, four Artist Alleys showcasing up-and-coming work from local artists. Proceeds go toward the upkeep of the Hillcrest sign and beautification projects in Hillcrest.

Cardiff Dog Days of Summer Aug 13
Cardiff 101 Main Street is proud to partner with the City of Encinitas to present the 12th Annual Cardiff Dog Days of Summer with 200 dog-related vendors and rescue groups, pet adoptions, live music, dog contests, kids’ activities, beer & wine garden, food trucks, and more.

More than 40 of the nation’s top professional BBQ Pitmasters, local restaurants, and chefs will be competing in this State Championship sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society. Attendees will enjoy tasty BBQ samples, local craft beer, and live music throughout the day.

International Kids Film Festival Aug 25-27
San Diego International Kids Film Festival will screening 100+ films from 30+ countries complete with red carpet, fashion presentation, speakers, and celebrity guests. One of the only multicultural events for families with kids.

Brew & Food Festival Aug 26
The third annual Brew & Food Festival (BFF) invites craft beer and food enthusiasts to experience tastings of more than 200 craft beers from 70 brewers, and culinary creations from more than 20 top chefs from San Diego, Tijuana and Baja. In addition, BFF will host live music performances, including a silent disco dome with dueling DJs on separate channels.

10th Annual Bike the Bay August 27
Ride the bridge, Bike the Bay! This non-competitive community bike ride is for riders of all abilities and will take you on a scenic, and primarily flat, ride around the San Diego Bay via the Bayshore Bikeway. All riders will return to San Diego for a post-ride festival with food, beverage, beer garden and entertainment.
