Pageant of the Masters  July 7 – Aug 31
Presented in July and August since the early 1930’s, these colorful events have won worldwide recognition. The Pageant consists of ninety minutes of “living pictures” – incredibly faithful art re-creations of classical and contemporary works with real people posing to look exactly like their counterparts in the original pieces.

La Habra Corn Festival Aug 5-7
The festival includes a fall parade and two day carnival at El Centro Park. The Corn Festival Parade is open to most any group that wants to participate. Applications may be obtained at the La Habra Chamber of Commerce or from Pageantry Productions in South Gate. The parade is one of the largest daytime parades in southern California.

An Evening on the Beach Aug 4

Perched atop Olive Hill in the west lawn of historic Hollyhock House (which you can tour during the evening for $12), the Barnsdall Friday fundraisers include fine selections of boutique wines provided by Silver Lake Wine with a spectacular sunset and 360-degree views of the city. Ohana Festival Aug 27-28
The inaugural Ohana Festival will take over Doheny State Beach in Dana Point for two days, with headlining sets from Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and Lana Del Rey. Saturday’s highlights include Elvis Costello, Band of Horses, X and Mudhoney, with City and Colour, Corrine Bailey Rae and Ryan Bingham on Sunday. The fest’s name, as Lilo & Stitch fans can tell you, comes from the Hawaiian concept of family, and as such the beachfront festival is staging everything from an environmental exhibition curated by surfer Kelly Slater to a luau night live auction on Friday.
